JIMMY EDWARD PALMER
Jimmy Edward Palmer, 77, of Shepherdstown, WV, formerly of Hayesville, died Wednesday (June 27, 2007) at his residence. He was a native of Clay County, but had lived in Arlington, VA for 48 years before moving to West Virginia. He was the son of the late Fred and Bonnie Bryan Palmer. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Air Force. He worked as an operation's analyst for the Joint Chief of Staff in the Pentagon for 30 years. He later owned and operated Jimmy Palmer's Produce Stand in Arlington, VA. He was a member of the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Stephen E. Palmer and wife, Jennifer of Chesterfield, VA, Darryl E. Palmer of Inwood, WA, and David M. Palmer and wife, Angila of Arlington, VA; a sister, Janet Shoemaker of Hayesville; a brother, Jack Palmer of Hayesville; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Saturday (June 30) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Greg Carroll officiating. Interment in Hayesville First United Methodist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73, VFW Post 10222, Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol), and NC Armory Military Honors Group. Pallbearers: Stephen E. Palmer, Darryl E. Palmer, David M. Palmer, Robin Bryan, Jack Palmer, Jr., and Gary Palmer.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
