JOSEPH S. NEAL

Joseph S. Neal, 82, of Spotsylvania, VA, formerly of Aquone, died Thursday (March 30, 2006) at his residence. A native of Macon County, he had been living in Virginia for the past 30 years. He was the son of the late John and Alice Haney Neal and the husband of the late Frances Mosteller Neal, who died October 16, 1974 and Evelyn Martin Neal, who died April 13, 2000. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Marine Corp in the Pacific Theatre. He was a retired tunnel construction worker.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Joseph Neal, who died December 31, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Lana Northrup and husband, Bruce of Bartlett, TN; four sisters, Josephine Parker, Maude Guffey, Marie Sink, and Lucy Pendergrass; three brothers, Bob, David, and Paul Neal; three granddaughters, Aimee Jo Queen, Stacey Neal Agiular, and Alaina Neal; and three great grandchildren, Jeremy Brannon, Allyson Queen, and Isaac Agiular.

Graveside services at 2:30 PM Monday (April 3) in the Valleytown Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Andrews VFW Post 7620 and Rev. George Simmons officiating. Pallbearers: Michael Guffey, J.W., Joel, and Bobby Neal, Caleb Queen, and Randy West.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 Monday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
