JULIA WALDROUP
Julia Hughes Waldroup, 83, of Baldwin, GA, formerly of Hayesville, died Tuesday (March 28, 2006) in a Hambersham County, GA care facility. A native of Nantahala, Julia had lived in Hayesville before moving to Baldwin, GA eight years ago. She was the daughter of the late Robert Alan and Dosia Derreberry Lee and the wife of the late Robert Hughes, who died in 1984 and Jack Waldroup, who died in 2005. She was affliated with Western Square Dancing and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita O’Donahue; and three brothers, Claude, Robert, and Hubert Lee.
Surviving are three daughters, Rebecca Worley and Christine Worley both of Hayesville, and Ruth Hughes of Brasstown; three sons, Bruce Hughes and wife, Reba of Cornelia, GA, Robert Hughes and wife, Loretta of Warne, and Pete Hughes and wife, Rhonda of Baldwin, GA; and 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 7:00 PM Thursday (March 30) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Danny Hollifield and Terry Rice officiating. Burial at 9:00 AM Friday (March 31) in Valleytown Cemetery. Sons and grandsons as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, Mountain Region Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
