ALAN RAY BALL
Alan Ray Ball, beloved son and father, died at his home in Hayesville on March 8, 2007. Our Lord and His angels in Heaven have welcomed him. He will be sorely missed by all who responded to his generous and compassionate personality. He was a dedicated Christian servant who lived to help those in need and pain. Alan was baptized on Easter Sunday, April 14, 1963, at Wynnton Baptist Church, Columbus, GA, Dr. Charles Granade, Pastor. He was a member of the Marble Springs Baptist Church in Marble.
Mr. Ball was born in Honolulu, Oahu, HI on Monday, August 15, 1955. He attended Furman University, Greenville, SC where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He was graduated from Emory University Physician Assistant Program, Atlanta, GA. He graduated with honors from the University of Southern California-Los Angeles graduate program in Emergency Medicine/Trauma for Physician Assistants. Alan was the owner of the Mountain View Family Care Clinic in Hayesville.
Alan was an avid sportsman, excelling in rock climbing, ice climbing, wind surfing, and camping with his family. He finished the Big Sur International Marathon, Monterey, CA twice. He was also an accomplished photographer. He became associated with the Sierra Club while living and working in California.
Mr. Ball was the only son of LTC (RetUSA) Ray Edward and Ruth Mozo Ball of Columbus, GA. He leaves a legacy of three lovely daughters, Nichole Larie Ball, Andrea Jean Ball, and Cherilyn Ruth Ball; and his faithful companion, “Tank”. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Coleman and Alberta Lovern Ball and Albert Ray and Ethel Parker Mozo; and several other relatives.
Visitation at Stiffler-Hamby Funeral Home on Macon Road, Columbus, GA from 2-4 Tuesday afternoon (March 13) with the funeral in the chapel immediately following with burial at Park Hill Cemetery, Columbus, GA with the Rev. Dr. Brad Hicks officiating.
The family requests memorials be made to the building fund of Wynnbrook Baptist Church, Columbus, GA or to the Marble Springs Baptist Church or to charities of your choice.
