CHARLES D. BATEMAN
Charles D. Bateman, 73, of Andrews died Friday (March 9, 2007) at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of the Nantahala Community, he was the son of the late Claude and Elda Neal Bateman. Mr. Bateman was a foreman in the heavy construction industry, building dams and bridges. He was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, T.A. and Jerry Bateman.
Surviving are four sons, Charles Bateman Jr. and his wife, Karen of Marble, and Joseph Bateman and his wife, Lisa, Timothy Bateman, and William “ Bill” Bateman all of Andrews; two sisters, Mary Williamson of Culberson and Geneva Mosteller of Nantahala; five brothers, Johnnie Bateman of Andrews, and James, Todd, Morris, and Wendell Bateman all of Nantahala; and two grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Bateman.
Funeral services at 7:30 PM Monday (March 12) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Rev. S.J. Waters officiating. Interment at 10:00 AM Tuesday (March 13) in the Aquone Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ray and Andy Morgan and members of the Nantahala Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:15 Monday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Charles D. Bateman to the Nantahala Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 19036 Wayah Road, Aquone, NC 28781.
