HOPE VARINA DERREBERRY KING

Hope Varina Derreberry King, 87, of Marble went to be with the Lord Wednesday (March 7, 2007) at a Murphy hospital. A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley and Mila Hooper Derreberry, and the wife of the late Boyd Thomas King, who died October 30, 1975. She was a devoted wife and mother, and was a member of the Vengeance Creek Baptist Church.
 
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kelly;  a son, Larry King;  three sisters, Edna, Alice and Steen;  and three brothers,  S.Q., Albert and Vaughn Derreberry.
 
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Hill of Marble;  a son, Wayne R. King of Canton, NC;  a brother, Morris Derreberry of Kings Mountain, NC;  and nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Friday (March 9) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. Billy King officiating. Interment in the Derreberry Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
 
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
