LOWELL L. WASHBURN

Lowell L. Washburn, 82, of Marble died Saturday (March 3, 2007) in a Murphy care facility. He was a native of Edgeley, ND, but had lived in Cherokee County for the past 14 years. He was the son of the late Lowell L. and Ellen Studebaker Washburn and husband of the late Frances Koopman Washburn. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Air Force in the European Theatre and also was a Korean War veteran. Lowell retired later from the Hillsboro County Florida Sheriff’s Department. Lowell was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War, and was a member of the Saint Luke Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, GA. He was an avid bowler.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Washburn.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Hartwig Washburn; a daughter, Patricia Halling of Tampa, FL; two sons, Jerry and Thomas Washburn, both of Tampa, FL; and eight granddaughters.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Tuesday (March 6) in the Saint Luke Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge with Rev. Victor Morgan officiating. Interment in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard form Blue Ridge, GA. Pallbearers: Ralph Barnard, Maurice West, Roy Gilbert, Joe Brandon, Joe Morrow, and Jere McConnell.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Lowell Washburn to a charity of your choice.
