MICHAEL J. WHITENER
 

Michael J. Whitener, 24, of Murphy died unexpectedly. A native of Grosse Pointe Park, MI, he had lived in Detroit, MI for four years before moving to Cherokee County in 1986. He was a 2001 graduate of Murphy High School. Michael had worked as a carpenter and he was of the Church of God faith.  He enjoyed working on old cars.
 
Surviving are his parents, Willard Jeff and Joyce Zoltowski Whitener of Murphy;  a brother, Aaron J. Whitener of the home;  a special uncle, Dan Zoltowski and wife, Lydia of Sterling Heights, MI;  and a great aunt, Mildred Barr of Warren, MI.
 
Memorial services at 7:00 PM Thursday (March 8) at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. James Lovingood officiating.
 
The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family of Michael J. Whitener.
 
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy in charge of all arrangements.
