NEAL JARRETT


 

Neal Jarrett, 97, of Hayesville died Saturday (March 17, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. A native and life long resident of Clay County, he was the son of the late William H. and Dora Cherry Jarrett. He had served two terms, 1958-1966, as a Clay County Commissioner. He was a farmer and a member of the Oak Forest United Methodist Church.
 
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Neal Jarrett.
 
Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Gladys Moore Jarrett; two daughters, Elizabeth Jarrett Walton and husband, Joseph of Social Circle, GA and Cherry Arthur Jarrett of Hayesville;  a son, Tommy W. Jarrett and wife, Sterling of Goldsboro, NC;  and four grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
 
Funeral services at 1:00 PM Monday (March 19) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Jacob Kyker officiating. Interment in the Oak Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Reggie Hooper, Michael Powell, Joseph Walton, Harry Jarrett, Dan McGlamery, and Tommy Moore.
 
The family will receive friends from 12:00-12:45 Monday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Neal Jarrett to the Oak Forest United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Keith Crawford, 260 Golf Course Road, Hayesville, NC 28904 or to the IOI-Industrial Opportunities, Inc., PO Box 1649, Andrews, NC 28901.
