EVELYN  FORD  WEST


 

Evelyn Ford West, 91, of Marble died Friday (March 7, 2008) in Aberdeen, NC.  A native of Clay County, she had lived in Marble most of her life.  She was the daughter of the late John Fred and Nora Lominac Ford and the wife of the late Venson Frank West, who died in 1969.  Evelyn was a retired nurse and had worked for Dr. Blossom and Murphy Medical Center.  She was a member of the Conaheeta Club, Sunshine Club, and the Andrews First Baptist Church.
 
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Ford and Mildred Ford West.
 
Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn White of Huntsville, AL, Melva Benham of Clearwater, FL, and Clarice W. West of Southern Pines, NC; two sons, Ford West of Davidsonville, MD and Rick West of Heavener, OK;  a brother, John Fred Ford Jr. of Grass Valley, CA;  and ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services at 3:00 PM Friday (March 14) in the Andrews First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Lamb officiating.  Interment in Valleytown Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  David Higdon, Eddie Wood, J.R. Marr, Terry Postell, Virgil Gibson, and Maurice Sherrill.
 
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 Friday afternoon at the Andrews First Baptist Church prior to the services.
