JAMES RANDOLPH ERMLICH

James Randolph Ermlich, 62, of Hayesville died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 in a Murphy medical center. He was a native of Dayton, OH, but had lived in Lewisburg, OH and Hudson, FL before moving to Clay County in 1991. He was the son of the late Gustauv Leo and Mary Agnes Nelson Ermlich. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy at Bethesda Naval Base in Bethesda, MD. Jim had been owner and operator of Jay Lester Cabinets in Hudson, FL, but had retired as manager of the lawn & garden department at Smith Power Equipment in Hayesville. He was an active member of the Hyatts Creek Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alisha Renee Ermlich; two brothers, Gerald and Jeffery Adrian Ermlich; and his father-in-law, Malcom Jay Lester.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Kathy Lester Ermlich; a daughter, Jacqueline Kay Ermlich-White and husband, Steve of Lilburn, GA; two sons, Adrian John “A.J.” Ermlich of the home and James Christopher Ermlich and wife, Rhonda of Port Richey, FL; three brothers, Richard Ermlich and wife, Sally, Dennis Ermlich, and David Ermlich and wife, Karen all of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, Steven Nicholas White, Matthew Justin White, Michael Cameron White, Clayton Ermlich, and Trenton Ermlich; a niece of the home, Kendra Marie Lester and several other nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Shirley Marie Lester of Warne; and three brothers-in-law, Jack Lester and wife, Nancy and Malcom Lester both of Trapper Creek, AK, and John Jay Lester of Warne.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 14 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Parker Burgess officiating. Interment was in the Ermlich Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steven Nicholas and Matthew Justin White, Richard, David, and Dennis Ermlich, and John Jay Lester.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of James Randolph Ermlich to the Souls for Christ Ministry, PO Box 45, Marble, NC 28905.
