FLOYD WILLIAM GERMANN
Floyd William Germann, 81, of Murphy died Saturday (May 12, 2007) in a Cleveland, TN hospital. He was a native of Freeburg, IL but had lived in Cherokee County for the past 15 years. He was the son of the late Fred and Amanda Ricks Germann. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy in the European Theatre during the Normandy Invasion. He had retired from the United States Postal Service and had attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Survivng are his wife, Opal Ware Germann; a daughter, Linda Votava of Lebanon, MO; two sons, Michael Germann of Bel Air, MD and Phillip Germann of Brandon, FL; and eight grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services at 7:00 PM Monday (May 14) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Revs. Truman Pyles and Steve Ware officiating. Interment at 10:00 AM Tuesday (May 15) in the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 96, D.A.V. Chapter 73, VFW Post 10222, and the Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol). Pallbearers: Lloyd Beavers, Raymond Shields, Bobby and Jeff Pyles, Darrell Decker, and Ed Green. Gene Ware as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:45 Monday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
The family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Floyd William Germann to the Broyhill Baptist Children’s Home, 61 Sneed Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
