M.J. JORDAN

M.J. Jordan, 88, of Mills River, NC, formerly of Andrews, died Friday (May 11, 2007) in a Hendersonville, NC hospital. He was a native of Cherokee County, where he had lived most of his life until moving to Henderson County in 2003. He was the son of the late John Mauldon and Nettie Johnson Jordan. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He was owner and operator of Jordan’s Market for 23 years. M.J. was a member of the Andrews VFW Post 7620 and the Emanuel Baptist Church in Mills River.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Leola Martin Jordan; three daughters, Dottie Poteet of Mills River, Gail Simpson of Charlotte, and Charlene Mauney of Murphy; a son, Bill Jordan of Fairlee, VT; and eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Monday (May 14) in the Andrews First Baptist Church with Revs. Greg Bell and Darren Browning officiating. Interment in the Valleytown Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Andrews VFW Post 7620. Pallbearers:  Michael Gray, Virgil Gibson, Lane Raxter, Mitch Waldroup, and Keith and Eddie Wood.
 
The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 Monday afternoon at the Andrews First Baptist Church prior to the services.
