ELLIS HOGSED

Ellis Hogsed, 77, of Hayesville died Tuesday (May 13, 2008) in an Asheville, NC hospital. A native of Clay County, he had lived in Gwinnett County, GA before moving back to Clay County. He was the son of the late William Bryson and Cordie Garrett Hogsed and the husband of the late Minnie Benelee Hooper Hogsed, who died Feb. 15, 2008. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Marine Corps. In his early life, he worked as a logger and then for Gwinnett County Storm Water Drainage. Ellis was a member of the Shooting Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Dixie Hogsed Hancock of Hayesville and Debra Moss Cloer of Andrews; six sons, Timothy W. Hogsed and Dwight Moss both of Hayesville, Dale Hogsed of Dacula, GA, Phillip Moss of Watkinsville, GA, Jerry Moss of Stone Mountain, GA, and David Moss of Bogart, GA; a sister, Loree Ledford of Hayesville; and 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Saturday (May 17) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Gary Ashe officiating. Interment was held in the Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73, VFW Post 10222, and Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol). Sons served as pallbearers.
The family received friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
