ROBERT LEE MORGAN



Robert Lee Morgan, 75, of Andrews died Sunday, November 23, 2003 at his residence. A native of Avery County, NC, he was raised in Cherokee and Clay counties. After serving in the United States Navy at the end of WWII, he moved to Gastonia, NC, where he worked for Parkdale Mills until moving back to Cherokee County in 1967. He had worked for Coats America for 24
years, retiring in 1991. He was the son of the late Erman J. and Claudia Barrier Morgan. He was a faithful member, a compassionate and devoted Christian man, a deacon, and a former Sunday School teacher at Valleytown Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Gladys H. Morgan of Andrews; a daughter, Claudette Morgan of Charlotte, NC; two sons, Jerry Morgan and his wife, Debbie, and Alan Morgan and his wife, Brenda, all of Andrews; three sisters, Elizabeth Rogers of Carrolton, OH, Pheba Lunsford of Kings Mountain, NC, and Marie Lingerfelt of Belmont, NC; a brother, George Morgan of Andrews; and a Loving grandfather of William, Rebecca, and Zachary Morgan.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ferguson, and a brother, Carl Morgan.

Funeral services at 2:00 PM Wednesday (Nov. 26) at the Valleytown Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron McClure officiating. Burial in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Danny Pullium, Mike Allison, Bobby Clayton, Larry Rogers, Roy Brown, and John Cook.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 Wednesday afternoon at the Valleytown Baptist Church prior to the services.

The family requests memorials be made to the Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice Agency, P.O. Box 465, Hayesville, NC 28904 or to the Valleytown Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Ruby Brown, 2542 Stewart Rd, Andrews, NC 28901.
