A native of Clay County, he had lived in Andrews for the past ten years. He was the son of the late Mirl and Lena McCray Chance. He had been a loader in the timber business and was a member of the Fires Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Everett Chance. Surviving are his wife, Polly Ann Brown Chance; a daughter, Julie C. Fleming and husband, Shea of Andrews; a son, Charles Ray Chance and wife, Pat of Andrews; a sister, Christine Roach of Hayesville; two brothers, Kenneth Chance of Buford, GA and Richard Chance of Alpharetta, GA; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services at 2:00 PM Sunday (Nov. 7) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Revs. Dallas Crowder and Aud Brown officiating. Burial in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: William Pugh, Richard and Mike Chance, Clancy Shelton, Tony Lands, and Benny Kirby. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
