OSCAR A. MORGAN
Oscar A. Morgan, 87, of the Nantahala Community, Topton died Friday, November 11, 2005 in an Andrews care facility. He was a native of Macon County where he had lived most of his life. He was the son of the late Charlie A. and Eldora Wilson Morgan and the husband of the late Irene Roper Morgan, who died in 1966. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. He had worked for 25 years with Oakdale Cotton Mill in Jamestown, NC. Oscar was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Gwendolyn Tomlin of Andrews and Jennifer Stamey and her husband, Kenneth of Jamestown, NC; six grandchildren, Allen and Jeff Stamey, Bryan, Christy, and Misty Tomlin, and Amanda Monroe; six great grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Stamey, Kristen, Morgan, and Katie Tomlin, and Alanna Sue Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Monday (Nov. 14) in the Union Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Taylor officiating. Burial in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Andrews VFW Post 7620. Pallbearers: Bryan Tomlin, Jeff Holden, Richard and Matt Morgan, Walter White, and Anthony Monroe. Early and Chris Passmore as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
