CARRIE DAVENPORT

Carrie Davenport, 91, of Hayesville died Wednesday (November 21, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. She was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. She was a daughter of the late B.T. and Annie Kitchens Maney and the wife of the late James Perry Davenport, who died May 21, 1998. Carrie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hayesville Chapter #11, and the Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Burch, and an infant son, James Perry Davenport, Jr.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Bush of Jonesboro, GA; six grandchildren, Kim Davis, Brad Davis, Kay Wimpey, and Sandy Gilpin, all of Atlanta, and Melissa Burch, and Teresa Ledford, both of Hayesville; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday (Nov. 23) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Doyce Waters officiating. Interment in the Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Brad Davis, Eric Wimpey, Dennis Gilpin, Blake, Tyler, and Adam Ledford.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 Friday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Carrie Davenport to the Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Louise Scroggs, 951 Old Hwy 64 East, Hayesville, NC 28904.
