CECIL  C.  HAWKINS
 

Cecil C. Hawkins, 90, of Warne died Friday (Nov. 9, 2007) in a Murphy care facility.  A native and lifelong resident of Clay County, he was the son of the late Grady A. and Lucy Parilla Hall Hawkins.  He was a farmer and had worked at Clifton Precision for several years.  
 
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Franklin and Nell Hughes;  and a brother, Horace Hawkins.
 
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Fleming Hawkins;  a daughter, Mary Ruth Howell and husband, Rev. Greg Howell of Charleston, SC;  a son, Claud Daniel Hawkins and wife, Kathy Hawkins of Bean Station, TN; a sister, Ruby Hughes of Hayesville;  two grandchildren, Jennifer Hawkins Upchurch and husband, John and Jeremy Daniel Hawkins and wife, Kim;  five great grandchildren, Cody, Megan, Gracie Beth, Kevin, and Cayson;  and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Saturday (Nov. 10) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. William Lee and Greg Howell officiating.  Interment in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  Buddy Lowe, David Anderson, Jack Dailey, Wayne Shumake, Larry Lee, and Jimmy Johnson.
 
The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Cecil C. Hawkins to the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Buddy Lowe, 240 Rocky Branch Lane, Hayesville, NC 28904 or the Murphy Medical Center Foundation, 4130 US Highway 64 East, Murphy, NC 28906.
