RETHAL O. HOGSED
 

Rethal O. Hogsed, 79, of Longview Community, Hickory died Friday (November 30, 2007) at her daughter’s residence in Hickory. She was a native of Cherokee County where she had lived until moving to Longview in June 2005. She was the daughter of the late Jewell Edward and Lillie Parnell Self and the wife of the late Marshall S. Hogsed, who died June 23, 1991. Rethal was a homemaker.
 
She was preceded in death by a son, James R. Hogsed, who died May 24, 2007.
 
Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Rose Parker of Longview, NC; six sisters, Edgal Chilson of Warne, Geneva Floyd of Murphy, Juanita Childers of Clover, SC, Joy Domney of Savannah, GA, Fostain Richardson and Faye Self both of Gastonia;  a step-sister, Mary Nell Cole of Gastonia;  a brother, J.E. Self of Gastonia; two granddaughters, Kim McAdams and Tina Sain;  and six great grandchildren and a great great grandson.
 
Graveside services at 3:00 PM Sunday (Dec. 2) in the Mount Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Grindstaff officiating.
