SOLOMON GIBSON


Solomon Gibson, 85, of Hayesville died Wednesday (November 7, 2007) in a Clay County Care Center. He was a native of New York City, but had lived in Ft. Myers, FL before moving to Clay County 25 years ago. He was the son of the late Michael and Mary Ostroff Gibson. Solomon was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving in the United States Navy as an aviation machinist and retiring after 20 years of service.  He was in the Fleet Reserve for ten years. He was a member and past president of the Hayesville Lion’s Club and was of the Catholic faith.
 
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Meek Gibson;  two daughters, Deborah Quinones of Miami, FL and Christina Aguilar of Lake City, FL.
 
Inurnment at 11:30 AM Tuesday (Nov. 13) in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
