ETHEL CANTRELL



Ethel Cantrell, 92, of Murphy went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 in a Murphy medical center. A native of Woodburn, IN, she had lived in St. Petersburg, FL before moving to Cherokee County in 2003. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Erhsman Becker. Ethel was a homemaker and a member of the Christ Community Church in Andrews.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Garriss and husband, Jim of Poquoson, VA; a son, Larry Cantrell and wife, Susie of Murphy; three grandchildren, Heather Almaroad of Greenville, SC, Dawn Moore of Jacksonville, FL, and Todd Cantrell of Orchard Park, NY; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Nov. 22 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Larry Cantrell and Bo Gray officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Jim Garriss, Joshua Almaroad, Todd Cantrell, Scott Pascia, Jerry Miller, and Jack Elder.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Ethel Cantrell to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, Inc., Far Western Mountains Chapter, PO Box 1527, Murphy, NC 28906.
