MATTIE RUTH SMITH

Mattie Smith, 59, of Murphy died Friday, October 31, 2003 in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital. A native of Cobb County, Georgia, but had been living in Cherokee County for the past 30 years. She was the daughter of Josephine Haley, and the wife of the late David Smith, who died in 1980. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church where she was a choir member and active in the Missionary Society.

Surviving in addition to her mother are a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services at 3:00 Sunday afternoon (Nov. 2) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. J.P. Webb officiating. Burial in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy. Pallbearers: Ervin Brown, Martin Allen, Kevin Nicely, Andrea Smith, Bill Sudderth, and Zeke Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 2:15-2:45 Sunday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
