Ivie Funeral Home OMA STILES DOTSON


Oma Stiles Dotson, 73, of Murphy died Saturday, October 4, 2003 in Abernathy Center in Newton, NC. A native of Cherokee County where she had lived most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Elmer B. and Mae Clonts Stiles and the wife of the late Henry A. Dotson who died December 2, 1967. She was a retired employee of Emerson Electric. Oma was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Coy H. Stiles.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Osborne of Bradenton, FL; a son, David E. Dotson and his wife, Sheila of Catawba, NC; and three grandsons, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 7) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. Burial in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Wayne Holland, Chuck Sutton, Ted Baitey, Ken Simmons, Richard Newton, and Tom McGuire.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Monday evening (Oct.6) at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.

The family requests memorials be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o T.L. McNabb, 186 Friendship Church Rd., Murphy, NC 28906.
