ARZELIA WITT
Arzelia Witt, 82, of Murphy died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 2004) at her residence. A native of Cherokee County, she had lived in Toms River, NJ for 23 years before moving back to Murphy in 1975. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Docia Simonds Clonts. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church. Her hobbies included her flowers, gardening, canning, and freezing. Arzelia was a loving wife and mother and was proud of and enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Max Witt; four daughters, Patsy Circle and husband, Keith of Westlake, OR, Sandra Pope and husband, Jim of Redding, CA, Judy Eager and husband, Frank of Toms River, NJ, and Faye Wheeler and husband, Edgar of Wauchula, FL; a son, Russell Witt and wife, Lauren of Forked River, NJ; a sister, Winona Stiles of Murphy; and 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Friday (Oct. 22) in the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Chester Jones officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: Frank Eager, Eddie Wheeler, Larry Clonts, Kenneth Higgins, Jim Lunsford, and Dr. Eugenio Lamboy.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jim Hendrix, 3195 Old Peachtree Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
