BURL CHASTAIN

Burl L. Chastain, 59, of Murphy died Saturday, October 23, 2004 in a Murphy medical center. A native of Akron, OH, he had lived most of his life in Cherokee County. He was the son of the late William A. and Telithia Sparks Chastain. He had worked for Hubbard's for many years. He attended the Old Fashioned Baptist Church. His hobbies included Nascar racing, watching football and baseball, and working in the flower garden.

Surviving are his companion of 17 years, Irene Biddulph; and several cousins.

Funeral services at 7:00 PM Monday (Oct. 25) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with Rev. John Burns officiating. Burial at 10:00 AM Tuesday (Oct. 26) in the Maggies Chapel Cemetery. Members of the Cherokee County Rescue Squad as pallbearers: David Hubbard, Dexter Hubbard, Dexter Hubbard Jr., Ed Flemming, Kirk Headley, and Doug Vuick.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:45 Monday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Maggies Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Zelma Mason, 307 John Mason Road, Brasstown, NC 28902.
