RUBY LOUISE DILLS

Ruby Louise Dills, 83, of Warne, NC passed away Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Crawford-Long Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia following complications from an accident incurred at home. Mrs. Dills was born in Otto, NC, August 26, 1921 to Joseph Robert and Savannah Shope Bell. She married Halen Dills on October 1, 1944. The family lived in Franklin, NC, Atlanta, GA, and Highlands, NC before moving to Clay County in 1959. Mrs. Dills was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. She was of a strong mountain heritage; she grew a big garden each year, nurtured her many flowers, and loved her family and her Lord. She will be greatly missed, but will live on through memories everyone has of her.

Mrs. Dills was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Dills; her parents; a brother, J.R. Bell; and two sisters, Blanche Bradley and Bertha Carpenter.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Halen Dills; three daughters, Rachel Payne and her husband, Manuel of Warne, NC, Karen Phillips and her husband, Tommy of Young Harris, GA, and Carol Shook and her husband, Curtis of Hiawassee, GA; two sons, Dickie Dills and his wife, Sue of Lilburn, GA and David Dills and his wife, Kathy of Young Harris, GA; two sisters, Kitty Hodgins of Sedro Wooley, WA and Lena Shope of Rabun Gap, GA; three brothers, Robert Bell, Harvey Bell, and Ralph Bell all of Otto, NC; eight grandchildren, Chris Payne of Hayesville, Amanda Holdaway of Young Harris, GA, Eric Dills of Young Harris, GA, Alicia King of Blairsville, GA, Monica Phillips of Atlanta, GA, Emily Shook of Hiawassee, GA, Matthew Dills of Lilburn, GA, and Adam Dills of Young Harris, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah Holdaway, Madeline Payne, Elle King, Jozie King, Olivia Payne, Eli Dills, and Halen Holdaway; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 5) in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Herbert Henderson officiating. Burial in the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Matthew Dills, Chris Payne, Jason Holdaway, Bobby Bell, Jerry Shope, and Mike Bell.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 Tuesday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.

The family request memorials be made to the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 190, Warne, NC 28909.
