ARTHUR J. DAVIES
Arthur J. Davies, 64, of Murphy died Saturday (October 22, 2005) at his residence. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he had been living in Cherokee County since 1997. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. Arthur was a retired policeman with the New York Police Department and was a member of the Honor Legion of the Police Department City of New York. He had been awarded the Kings County American Legion Certificate, the Steuben Association Order of Merit, and Kentucky Colonel by the governor of Kentucky. Arthur was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was the son of the late Walter and Frances Regan Davies and was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Paul Davies, who died May 22, 1998 and a brother, Robert Davies.
Surviving are his wife, Candice Olsen Davies; a brother, Walter Davies of Brooklyn, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM Tuesday (October 25) in the Saint William Catholic Church with Father George Kloster officiating. Interment at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Laurel Hills Memory Garden.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening (October 24) at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Arthur J. Davies to the charity of your choice.
