JACK C. PALMER

Jack C. Palmer, 80, of Hayesville died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2007) in a Murphy medical center. A native of Clay County, he had lived in Marietta, GA for 34 years before returning to Clay County in 1985. He was the son of the late Fred and Bonnie Bryan Palmer. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Air Force as a radar technician. After service, Jack attended Young Harris College for two years and then was employed as an electronic technician for Lockheed for 34 years. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Kennesaw Masonic Lodge No. 33, and the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daugthers, Mary Elizabeth Walston and husband, Ron of Albany, GA and Myra Jane Palmer of Smyrna, GA; a son, Jack C. Palmer Jr. and wife, Carol of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Janet Shoemaker of Hayesville; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services at 1:00 PM Saturday (Nov. 3) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Kirk Hatherly officiating. Interment in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Cemetery with a White Dove Memories Ceremony and military graveside rites conducted by the Hayesville VFW Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol), American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73, and VFW Post 10222. Pallbearers: Stephen, Darryl, David, and John Palmer, Robin Bryan, Jimmy Johnson, and Virgil Elliott.

The family will receive friends from 12-12:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Jack C. Palmer to the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, PO Box 85, Hayesville, NC 28904.
