ROBERT MARLIN ALWINE
Robert Marlin Alwine, 71, of Hayesville died Wednesday (October 17, 2007) in Bennington, VT. A native of Johnstown, PA, he had lived in Hayesville for 18 years. He was the son of the late Rueben and Irma Lambert Alwine. He had been in the United States Naval Reserves. He had a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State Teacher’s College (now known as IUP). He had taught high school in Pennsylvania. He was a real estate broker for Oak Forest ReMax, a developer in Clay County, and an associate pastor at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church. He was instrumental in working alongside the New Worship Center Building Community in completing the new structure and had served on the Board of Directors for Penfield Christian Home.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Lynn Alwine; a daughter, Cynthia Lee Dziendziel and husband, Norman; two sons, Robert M. Alwine and Randall M. Alwine; a step-daughter, Deborah Humphreys and husband, Paul; two step-sons, Ted Slack and wife, Terri and Jeffrey Slack and wife, Melissa; 12 grandchildren, Charissa, Shawn, Tyler, Brad, Toni, Michelle, Ben, Dan, Jessica, Christina, Avery, and Jacob; and a great granddaughter, Ella.
Funeral services at 2:30 PM Sunday (Oct. 21) in the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating. Interment in the Osborn Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jeffrey and Ted Slack, Paul Humphrey, Brad Alwine, Shawn Barkley, and William Gregory.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.
