ALICE ELIZABETH  MORLEY
 

Alice Elizabeth Morley, 85, of Unaka died Monday (Sept. 24, 2007) at her residence.  A native of Hendersonville, NC, she had lived in Unaka for 60 years.  She was the daughter of the late Hestley Aiken and Margaret Lilly Dunlap Stepp and the wife of the late John A. Morley, who died Nov. 25, 1971.  She was Postmistress for 22 years.  Alice was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Murphy Chapter No. 10 and a faithful member of Unaka Baptist Church, where she served as church pianist for many years.
 
Surviving are three daughters, Joan Morley Hartness and husband, Johnny, Mary Louise Jones and husband, Ernest, and Janet Thompson and husband, Alvin all of Murphy;  seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren;  and a nephew, Bob Stepp and wife, Lynn.
 
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Thursday (Sept. 27) in the Unaka Baptist Church with Dr. Chester Jones officiating.  Interment in Unaka Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating.  Pallbearers:  Roy Rose, Junior Beaver, Bob Phillips, Gerald Roberts, David Pullium, and Will Hayes.
 
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body will be until placed in the church at the service hour.
 
The family requests memorials be made in memory of Alice Elizabeth Morley to the Broyhill Children’s Home, 111 Sneed Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
