MARTHA  ARNOLD


 

Martha Arnold, 69, of Young Harris, GA died Friday (Sept. 28, 2007) at her residence.  A native of DeKalb County, GA, she had lived in Towns County, GA for the past 11 years.  She was the daughter of the late U.F. and Mattie Bishop Merritt and the wife of the late Jack Lee Arnold, who died Feb. 11, 2001.  She was a retired printer and attended the Mountain of Faith Baptist Church.
 
Surviving are two sons, Steve Owens and Leslie Owens both of McDonough, GA;  a step-son, David Arnold of Helen, GA;  five sisters, Canary Elizabeth Covington of Hiawassee, GA, Elaine Williams of Sumpter, SC, Joann Kramer of Jonesboro, GA, Marion Virginia Wimberly of Young Harris, and Dotsy Jane Howard of Leigh Heights, FL;  three brothers, Willis David Merritt of Griffin, GA, Tommy William Merritt of Forest Park, GA, and Lewis Oliver Merritt of Young Harris;  and four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
 
Graveside services at 1:30 PM Sunday (Sept. 30) in the Hayesville Baptist / Presbyterian Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Jones officiating.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Martha Arnold to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1139, Hayesville, NC 28904.
