STANLEY RAY BROOKS
Stanley Ray Brooks, 84, of Murphy died Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2007) at his residence. A native of Hamilton County, TN, he had lived in this area since 1974 after moving from Florida. He was the son of the late John Gordon and Onnive Gayle Casteel Brooks and the husband of the late Frances Mallie Quinn Brooks, who died July 27, 2002. He had served in the United States Army in WWII as a paratrooper. Stanley was a boat captain for 19 years for the Naval Testing Facility in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was a member of Reid’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Teresa Dayle Brooks of Murphy; two sons, Robin Ray Brooks of Murphy and John Gary Brooks; a brother, Burt Brooks of LaGrange, TX; and three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held at 1:00 PM Tuesday (Oct. 2) in the Reid’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Patt Miller officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted by the American Legion Post #96, D.A.V. Chapter 73, V.F.W. Post 10222.
