TROY ALAN WILLIAMS

Troy Alan Williams, 40, of Andrews died Wednesday (September 5, 2007) in an Atlanta, GA V.A. hospital. A native of Gaston County, NC, he had lived in Andrews most of his life. He graduated with a master’s degree in social sciences from Western Carolina University. Troy served in the US Army and then had served for the past 22 years as a staff sergeant in the 210th MP Company of the National Guard. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He had worked as a teacher for several years with Job Corp. He was a master mason member of the Andrews Lodge No. 529 and was a member of York Rite Masons and was a Knight Templer Commandery No. 31 in Waynesville. He had served as alderman for the Town of Andrews. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Makenzie Lee Williams of Franklin; his mother, Betty Williams Parker of Andrews; his father, Joseph H. Williams and wife, Delores of Nantahala; a sister, Jennifer Solesbee and husband, Tim of Nantahala; two brothers, Shane Williams of Andrews and Earl Williams of Canton, NC; a niece, Amy Solesbee; and three nephews, Nikko Williams, Michael Williams, and Justin Solesbee.
Funeral services at 11:00 AM Saturday (Sept. 8) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Ron McClure officiating. Interment in Valleytown Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the 210th MP Company. Pallbearers: Members of the 210th MP Company.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
The family requests memorials be made in memory of Troy Alan Williams to the 210th MP National Guard for the local Children’s Christmas Fund, c/o Murphy National Guard Armory, PO Box 562, Murphy, NC 28906.
