ARTIE FOX

Artie Fox, 83, of Westland, MI, formerly of Murphy, died Monday (Sept. 8, 2003) in Garden City Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, Artie had lived in Knoxville, TN before recently moving to Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Harve W. and Laura Elizabeth Thompson Johnson. She had worked for B.F. Goodrich in Akron, OH and for Breeze Wind in Knoxville. Artie was a member of the A Avenue Baptist Church. She had been active in senior citizens activities.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Wosik and her husband, Walter of Bloomfield Hills, MI; a son, James William Hayes of Powell, TN; three sisters, Edna Burrell and Alene Reese both of Murphy and Lorene Berry of Dearborn Heights, MI; and three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services at 11:00 AM Saturday (Sept. 13) in the Sunny Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers: David, Johnny, and Travis Burrell, Gary Johnson, Norman Britt, and Mike Frady.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.

The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, Mountain Region Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801- 2644.
