FRANK
A. HOGAN
Frank A. Hogan, 88, of Brasstown
died Friday (Sept. 5, 2003) in a Murphy hospital. A native
of Cherokee County, he had lived in Black Mountain for
25 years before moving back to Brasstown in 1980. He was
the son of the late Burton Nelson and Laura Standridge
Hogan. Frank had been a maintenance engineer for YMCA Blue
Ridge Assembly and had also worked with the John C. Campbell
Folk School. He was a member of the Little Brasstown Baptist
Church.
He was preceded in death by
a son, Jerry C. Hogan.
Surviving are the wife, Bea
Robinson Hogan; a daughter, Candas Beryl Sabato and husband,
Mike of Swannanoa, NC; a son, Frank Edmond Hogan and wife,
Kay of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Bertha Carringer of
Brasstown and Willa Mae Anderson of Raleigh, NC; and six
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM
Sunday (Sept. 7) in the Little Brasstown Baptist Church
with the Revs. Aud Brown and Fred Lunsford officiating.
Burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary
pallbearers: Roy, James, Tommy, Jack, and Harry Hogan,
and Lyle, Jimmy, Weaver, Hugh, and Billy Carringer.
The family will receive friends
from 6:30-8:00 Saturday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home,
Murphy where the body will be until placed in the church
30 minutes prior to the services.
The family requests memorials
be made to the Little Brasstown Baptist Church Building
Fund, PO Box 12, Brasstown, NC 28902 or the YMCA Blue Ridge
Assembly, Maintenance Endowment Fund, 84 Blue Ridge Circle,
Black Mountain, NC 28711.
