GLADYS
ROBERTSON HOGSED

Gladys Robertson Hogsed, 82, of Murphy went to be with the Lord Thursday (Sept.
11, 2003). A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter
of the late Rev. Jesse and Nora Ivester Robertson. Gladys was a homemaker and
a second mother to many. She was a member of the Notla Baptist Church, where
she served as Sunday School teacher for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade W. Hogsed, who died Aug. 8,
1968 and five brothers, Charles, John D., Quinton, Hayse, and Max Robertson.
Surviving are a daughter, Tresa Hogsed of Murphy; a son, Greg Worley and wife,
Kimberly of Murphy; two sisters, Vena Beaver and husband, Lloyd of Elkin, NC
and
Ann Cochran and husband, Varnol of Bryson City, NC; a brother, Rev. Erois Robertson
of Murphy; her extended family, James “Jimmy” McCombs, Elizabeth
McCombs, Dustin Hughes, and Ashley Hughes; and her caregivers, Gail Bennett,
Kayla Pinson, and Pauline Beaver.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Sunday (Sept. 14) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral
Home, Murphy with the Revs. Avery Beaver, Aud Brown, and James Paul officiating.
Burial in the Bellview Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the Ivie Funeral
Home, Murphy.
The family requests memorials be made to the Good Shepherd Home Health and
Hospice Agency, PO Box 465, Hayesville, NC 28904.
