HAZEL MATHESON



Hazel Matheson, 82, of Hayesville died Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) at her residence. A native of Swain County, Hazel had lived in Clay County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Sally Massey Morris and the wife of the late Merl William Matheson, who died Dec. 3, 1989. She was retired from Peachtree Products and was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Virginia Matheson, Beatrice Long, Frances Turrill, and Alice Coleman all of Hayesville; two sons, Grady and Merl Matheson Jr. both of Hayesville; and 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services at 11:00 AM Saturday (Sept. 6) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Clark Moss officiating. Burial in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Randy and Jimmy Long, Ricky Owenby, Cory Ledford, Steven Martin, and Grady William Matheson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.

The family requests memorials be made to the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Hayesville, NC 28904.
