THURMAN “BEADIE” NELSON

Thurman "Beadie" Nelson, 92, of Hayesville died Sunday, September 26, 2004 in a Towns County, Georgia hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Clay County, he was a son of the late James Monroe and Dora Lou Dailey Nelson. He was a retired lumber inspector with Magnavox and was a member of the Chatuge Hills Assembly of God.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Carrie Belle Moore Nelson; three daughters, Janet Eller and her husband, Edwin and Penny McClure and her husband, Max all of Murphy, and Abigail Nelson and her fiance, Keith Hammond of Royston, GA; three sons, Richard Lee "R.L." Nelson and his wife, Alice and Ronald Nelson and his wife, Ruth all of Hayesville and John O. Nelson of the home; three sisters, Alice Passmore of Oak Ridge, TN, Ottie Faye Ashe and Martha Nelson both of Hayesville; a brother, Oscar Nelson of Rossville, GA; and 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a great great grandson.

Funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday (Sept. 29) in the Chatuge Hills Assembly of God with the Rev. Aline Mosteller, Rev. Jonathan Ayers, and Travis McClure officiating. Burial in the Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers: Mitchell Chastain, Tony Rice, Tony McClure, Thurman Eller, Brandon Floyd, and Ryan Arrowood. Dr. Gary Kauffman, Clyde Curry, Jr., Jeff Hogsed, and Roy Mosteller as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Tuesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville where the body will be until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
