ZELMA IRENE MASON

Zelma Irene Mason, 85, of Brasstown died Tuesday (September 13, 2005) in a Knoxville, TN hospital. A native of Russell County, VA, she had lived in the Brasstown area since 1947. She was the daughter of the late Garland Franklin and Connie Breeding Hurt and the wife of the late John Lofton Mason Sr., who died in 1952 and Edward H. Mason, who died in 1989. She was a retired quality controller with Clifton Precision and was a member of the Maggies Chapel Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Mercer of Quitman, GA; a son, John Lofton Mason Jr. of Brasstown; a step-daughter, Patricia McClure of Knoxville, TN; three grandchildren, John Lofton Mason III, Carole Irene Mercer, and William Keith Mercer Jr.; and three step-grandchildren, Melissa McClure Davis, Mark McClure, and John McClure.
Funeral services at 2:00 PM Saturday (Sept. 17) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Danny Patterson, Clyde Faulkner, and Aud Brown officiating. Burial in the Maggies Chapel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Steven Towe, Keith and Tim Stalcup, Brian and Darren Wilson, and John Patterson.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
The family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Zelma Irene Mason to the Maggies Chapel Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Mary Edith Stalcup, 2241 Brasstown Road, Brasstown, NC 28902.
