CASEY CREEL LAPSLEY
Casey Creel Lapsley, 57, of Murphy died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in an Asheville hospital. She was a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, but had lived in Kansas and Florida before moving to Cherokee County in 2005. She was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. Casey had worked as a secretary and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Murphy Church of Christ.
She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Eleanor Demeritt Creel.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas J. “Tom” Lapsley; a daughter, Marni Jennings of Morganton, NC; a brother, Raymond Creel of Arley, AL; and two grandchildren, Patrick and Paige Jennings.
Memorial services were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 12 in the Murphy Church of Christ with the Rev. Roy Stephenson officiating.
The family received friends following the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Casey Creel Lapsley to the Valley River Humane Society, 7450 US 19, Marble, NC 28905 or to the Murphy Church of Christ, 310 Church of Christ Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
